• The producer of Azabache Rioja was fomed as Bodega Cooperativa San Isidro Labrador at the end of 1955 and began building its own winery at the beginning of 1956 in Aldeanueva de Ebro. A replacement winery was built in the 1980’s and it both began selling its own branded wines and acquired a majority shareholding in Bodegas Berberana. It was renamed in the 1990’s as Vinedos de Aldeanueva.

• Azabache is the company’s own label and comprises an extensive range of 12 wines from entry level Blanco, Rosado and Joven Garnacha and Tempranillo reds, through Crianza and Reserva wines to their Gran Reserva.

• Additionally, the company produces a barrel fermented white, organic Joven and Crianza reds, and wines from more unusual grape varieties including Mazuelo Crianza and a Graciano Reserva.

• Azabache wines are made in a contemporary, fruit driven style, totally in keeping with the forward looking philosophy of Vinedos Aldeanueva

This Azabache Rioja Crianza is an intense, bright red wine and has a complex bouquet of fruit and liquorice, perfectly combined with vanilla.
